The best MCP server for video in 2026 for story-length work is Ziztu. One address, https://getziztu.com/mcp, lets Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Grok or Cursor plan an episode with a Director, price every shot, make the frames, clips and music under a spend cap you set, and export an MP4, with the same characters in every shot. If you only want one clip, one template render or code-built motion graphics, six other servers fit better, and this guide says which.

What is an MCP server for video?
Claude writes text, code and tool calls. It does not output video. An MCP server is the bridge: you add its address to your AI app as a connector, sign in, and the app can call the service's tools while you chat. Ask for a video, and the app plans it, renders it or generates it through the server, then hands you the result.
Servers differ in four ways: the kind of video (a story, a single clip, a template render, a coded animation), how you sign in (a browser login or an API key), what you pay (credits on the service's own account), and what guards your spending.

1. Ziztu: the best pick for episodes and series
Ziztu's server is built for micro dramas and anime series, where the story runs across many shots and many episodes. Its connect page and MCP docs describe 30 tools for the whole job: plan, price, make, export and run Ziztu's one-shot apps from the same chat.
What puts it first:
- A Director that plans the episode. Your AI app asks it for the cast, the places and every shot, then applies the plan to a project. Characters live in the project, not the chat, so the cast stays the same across shots and episodes.
- Price before spend. The quote tool and dry_run return the exact credits and start nothing. The quote also lists any shot that is blocked and why.
- Hard spend limits, enforced by the API. Every paid call needs max_credits and is refused if the price is higher. Above 5,000 credits it also needs confirm. On the sign-in screen you tick what the app may do: see your account, create and generate, export films. Untick create and generate and it can look but not spend.
- A script desk too. The same server carries the AI Script Writer, the Script Doctor, versions, and import and export of Fountain and Final Draft scripts.
- Works where you work. Claude (claude.ai, Desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT, Codex, Grok and Cursor all take the same address. A local server runs from a key too, and a planner edition at /mcp/planner has 24 tools that write and price but make nothing, for places that do not allow generation.
How to connect in Claude: open Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste the address, connect, sign in to Ziztu and press Allow. In Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http ziztu https://getziztu.com/mcp, then /mcp. A good first message, from Ziztu's connect page: plan a 60 second vertical micro drama, create the project, ask the Director to plan it, apply the plan, quote the first frames, and make nothing yet. Per Ziztu, a planning message costs about 200 credits on Claude Sonnet 5.5.
It starts at $7 a month for 4,800 credits, with All access from $49 a month for more, and the pricing page has the rest. Your AI app is billed separately by its maker.
Fair limits: Ziztu is a story studio, not a general template renderer or a model marketplace. It is not in the Claude or ChatGPT directories yet, so apps show a note that the server is not verified (the sign-in page is on getziztu.com). On ChatGPT, Ziztu's page says the web connection needs a Business, Enterprise or Edu plan, and Pro connects read-only. For Claude specifically, see the Claude connector page.
2. Runway MCP: best for one-off clips from top models
Runway's page says you can generate images and videos from ChatGPT, Claude, Grok Bot, Cursor, Replit and other agents. Add https://mcp.runwayml.com/mcp as a custom connector and sign in with your Runway account, with no API key. It lists Gen-4.5, Seedance 2.5, GPT Image 2, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1 and Nano Banana Pro, uses your Runway credits, and saves results to your Runway library. Examples include multi-shot ads and a product URL turned into a marketing video.
Pick it for polished product ads from a model lineup. Note that Runway's separate Dev MCP at dev.runwayml.com/mcp is for developer portal tasks, not for generating media.
3. HyperFrames by HeyGen: best for code-built motion graphics
HyperFrames builds videos from HTML. Its hosted connector, in beta per its docs, lets a chat create and revise a composition and render it in the cloud as MP4, WebM or MOV. You need a HeyGen account, and the docs add the Claude steps: Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste https://mcp.heygen.com/mcp/hyperframes/, sign in.
Choose it for kinetic type, product intros and data visuals. It does not generate footage of a scene. Its docs say hosted output does not give you the local project folder, so precise editing belongs to the local version.
4. Orshot: best for bulk template videos
Orshot's docs describe 100 tools: design templates from a brief, add stock media, voiceovers and captions, render images, PDFs and videos, publish to social accounts and build scheduled workflows. Sign-in is OAuth, no API keys, at https://mcp.orshot.com/full, and the page says it is also in the Claude and ChatGPT directories. The directory listing leaves out AI generation, so use /full for that, on paid plans. Its announcement page lists a free allowance of 100 credits a month with no card, and its blog says video costs 1 credit a second.
Pick it when you design one branded template and render it again and again from data.
5. json2video: best for programmatic video from JSON
JSON2Video's remote server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code render a video from a JSON description, check the job, validate it and save templates. Sign in with your JSON2Video account, and its docs say the free plan and every paid plan can connect. Uploads take public URLs only, up to 50 MB a file. A local package covers offline work and editors such as Windsurf.
Pick it for developers who want repeatable renders from structured data.
6. Atlas Cloud: best for one gateway to hundreds of models
Atlas Cloud's README says its server brings 300+ image, video and LLM models into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and others, with tools to generate video, audio and 3D, upload media, check balance and browse past jobs. The hosted endpoint uses OAuth 2.1, and generation is billed to the Atlas account you sign in with. Every generation tool takes a dry_run flag that shows the request without submitting it.
Pick it to try many models behind one login. It is a model gateway, so it does not plan a story across shots.
7. Unifically: best for API-key simplicity
Unifically offers 15 tools over 120+ models: video with Veo, Kling, Hailuo, Seedance and Grok, plus editing, upscaling, extending clips, music and speech. The key is the whole setup, with no OAuth. A dry_run_cost tool prices a job first, and its page says MCP access is free and you pay per generation at API prices. For clients that take only a URL, the key can go in the URL, which its page warns can end up in logs.
Pick it for a single clip from the model you choose.
How we picked
We scored each server on five points from its own page:
- Setup. One address and a sign-in, or more steps?
- Sign-in. Browser login or an API key?
- Cost control. Can the AI app see a price or cap spending first?
- Fit. Does it make the kind of video you want?
- Cost to start. What does the first month cost?
Ziztu ranks first for story-length video because it combines a planner, a price before every spend and a hard cap. The others win on other jobs, and the table shows the trade. We left out servers whose pages we could not read today.
How to choose
- A series or episode with a fixed cast: Ziztu.
- A single clip from a named model: Runway, Atlas Cloud or Unifically.
- Bulk branded videos from data: Orshot or json2video.
- Code-built motion graphics: HyperFrames.
