How it works

  1. 01

    Copy the Reel link

In Instagram, open the Reel, tap Share, then Copy link. The Reel must be public.

  2. 02

Paste it and press Get transcript

The sound is read and turned into text. A Reel up to 3 minutes takes a few seconds.

  3. 03

    Copy it or download it

Copy the text, or save it as .txt, .srt or .vtt. Add a summary, five hooks or a post with one click.

What you get

Works without captions

Most Reels have no caption track. The sound is turned into text with the Whisper speech model, so a Reel that only talks still gets a full transcript.

Timestamps on every line

Each line starts with the time it is said, so you can find a moment, cut a clip or write subtitles. Switch the times off for a clean block of text.

Free, with nothing to install

No signup, no card and no extension. 5 speech-to-text transcripts a day without an account. A Reel someone already ran is instant and does not count.

Who it's for

  • Creators

Study why a Reel works: the hook, the pacing and the exact words. Rewrite the idea in your own voice.

  • Social media managers

Pull quotes, write the caption, or send a client the words of a Reel without watching it twice.

  • Researchers and students

Search, quote and cite what was said in a Reel without typing it out.

What the example shows

The example above is the real output of this tool for a short scene from a micro drama made with Ziztu. Nothing was edited. It shows what you get: one line for each phrase, with the time it starts, and the language it was spoken in. A Reel of your own works the same way.

How to get the transcript of an Instagram Reel

Instagram does not show a transcript for most Reels, and the captions it adds are burned into the picture, so you cannot copy them. This tool reads the sound of the Reel instead. Paste the link of a public Reel, press Get transcript, and the speech comes back as text with timestamps.

It reads Reels, and the video on any public Instagram post. Stories and private accounts need a login, so they are not supported. For those, download the video yourself and use the video to text converter.

Under the transcript are three more free steps. Summary gives the main point and the key points. 5 hooks writes five opening lines for a new video on the same topic, from five different angles. A post writes a caption you can post. Each one reads only the text you got, and each is free.

The last step is for a different kind of video. Turn this into a micro drama or anime script writes a short story idea from the topic and opens it in the free AI script writer or anime script generator. From there the same idea can become a real episode in the Ziztu studio.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Instagram Reel transcript generator really free?

Yes. There is no signup and no card. You get 5 speech-to-text transcripts a day without an account and 20 with a free one. A Reel that was already transcribed here is instant and does not count against the limit.

Does it work on Reels with no captions?

Yes, that is what it is for. It listens to the audio of the Reel and writes down what is said, so a Reel without captions still gets a full transcript. Music and sound effects are left out.

How long can the Reel be?

Up to 3 minutes. Most Reels are under one minute. For a longer video, download it and use the video to text converter, which takes files up to 10 minutes.

Does it work on private accounts or Stories?

No. We only read what Instagram shows to anyone without logging in, so private accounts and Stories are out of reach. We never ask for your Instagram login and we do not want it.

Is the transcript accurate?

It uses the Whisper large-v3 speech model, which is accurate on clear speech in many languages. Loud music, fast overlapping voices and heavy accents lower the accuracy. Read it once before you post it anywhere.

Do you keep the video?

No. The sound is read while the job runs and deleted when it ends. We keep only the finished text, for 30 days, so a popular Reel is not paid for twice.

Why did my Instagram link not work?

Most often the video is private, was deleted, or sits behind a login, and we can only read public videos. A link with extra words around it is fine, but it must point to one video. If the site is not letting our server read the video right now, the message says so: try again in a few minutes, or download the video and use the video to text converter, which works on any file you have.

Can I use a transcript of someone else's video?

A transcript is the creator's own words, so treat it like any other copy of their work. Use it to read, search, take notes, make captions for a video you have the right to, or study how a good video is built. Do not republish it as your own. If you reuse the ideas, say where they came from.

Free, no account needed. 5 speech-to-text transcripts a day without signing up, 20 with a free account. Captions and transcripts we already made do not count.
