AI Anime Dramas

An AI anime drama is a short anime series, usually one to three minutes an episode, whose drawings, voices and music are made with AI instead of an animation studio. Ziztu makes them from one idea: a Director plans the cast and shots, character sheets keep the same characters in every shot, and the episode is cut on one timeline.

A young swordswoman in a red scarf leaps across tiled rooftops at sunset.

The Sky Whale is a 58 second short with 20 shots and two characters, the girl Mio and a whale made of cloud. The two other clips are single 5 second scenes. Every drawing, move and sound was made with AI in Ziztu, and the same characters look the same in every shot. Five finished shorts are on the films page:

An anime drama in the old sense is a genre of television anime: romance, slice of life, historical or psychological stories that run on character and not on fights. If you came here to find some to watch, this page is about the other meaning: an anime series you make yourself, with AI doing the drawing and the moving, in the genre you like. An AI anime drama is the same story craft, a cast, a look and a cliffhanger, in episodes short enough to make in an afternoon.

Ziztu is built for it. You write one idea, the Director plans the cast and the shots, and character sheets keep the faces and the outfits the same from shot to shot. The same project makes a micro drama or an anime episode: see AI micro dramas for the live-action version.

How an AI anime drama is made, in five steps

  1. Pick a look and write one idea. A cast, a place and the last image. One look for the whole series: cel, painterly or soft. The full walk-through.
  2. Let the Director plan. It proposes the cast, the places and the shot list, with a size, an angle and a camera move for each shot, in the ekonte form anime is planned in. You approve it before any credits are spent.
  3. Make a character sheet for each character. The same person from four views, drawn once, used for every shot. How to keep characters the same.
  4. Generate the shots. Each shot is a clip of a few seconds. One shot can be retaken without touching the rest.
  5. Add voices, music and subtitles, then cut. One timeline, one export.

The character sheet of Mio from The Sky Whale: every shot she is in starts from it.
The character sheet of Hana, a swordswoman in white and navy with a red-ribboned ponytail: front, side, back and a face close-up

Drama genres you can make

Anime drama is a wide field. These are the genres that suit short AI episodes, with a place to start in each. The four posters are concept pictures made with an image model, not frames of finished episodes.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI anime drama?

An AI anime drama is a short anime series, usually one to three minutes an episode, with AI-made drawings, motion, voices and music instead of an animation studio. Ziztu makes them from one idea: a Director plans the cast and shots, and character sheets keep the same characters in every shot.

What does anime drama mean?

In television, an anime drama is a series in the drama genre: romance, slice of life, historical or psychological stories that run on character. An AI anime drama is an anime series of that kind, or any genre, that you make yourself with AI.

How do I make an AI anime drama?

Pick one look and write one idea, let the Director plan the cast and shots, make a character sheet for each character, generate each shot as a clip, then add voices, music and subtitles and export one MP4. In Ziztu that is one project and every price is shown first.

How long is an AI anime episode?

One to three minutes is typical, and up to five is common for a short film. The Sky Whale runs 58 seconds and The Last One runs 1 minute 57 seconds. A shot is 3 to 15 seconds, so an episode is many shots cut together.

How much does an AI anime episode cost?

At list price the clips of a 1 minute episode of 15 shots of 4 seconds cost 600 credits at 768P, about $7.20 on Starter. Voices, music, keyframes and retakes are extra. Free credits cover scripts, character art, storyboards, voices and sound. Animating shots into video starts on any plan. Free results carry a small watermark.

Can the same characters appear in every episode?

Yes. Make a character sheet once and use it for every shot of every episode, and keep the same outfit words in your prompts. A hard shot can still drift; retake that shot with Identity lock, which sends your references with the clip.
