Classic mode: how the Ken Burns effect works
Classic mode uses ffmpeg to apply a Ken Burns pan and zoom to each photo. The effect slowly moves and zooms into or across the image over the duration of the clip, creating the impression of a camera moving through the scene. Each photo gets a different movement direction so the slideshow does not feel repetitive.
Fade, cut or wipe transitions connect the clips. Each photo is scaled to fill the frame and cropped to the format you choose, so place the subject near the center. The whole process runs on our server, and the file is deleted an hour after it is made.
AI motion mode: per-photo video generation
AI motion mode generates one short video clip from each photo using a video model. The model animates the scene in the photo: clouds move, hair flows, light shifts. The result is a slideshow where every image comes to life rather than simply panning across a still frame.
AI motion uses Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite at 720P: one 5-second clip per photo for about 40 credits, so a 10-photo slideshow costs about 400 credits. The exact total is shown before anything starts. AI motion needs an account and takes up to 12 photos.
AI motion works best with photos that have natural movement potential: outdoor scenes, people with loose clothing or hair, water, plants or sky. Indoor product photos and flat graphics produce less visible motion.

Is the AI slideshow maker free?
Classic mode is completely free with no account required. It uses ffmpeg to apply a smooth pan and zoom (Ken Burns effect) to each photo and assembles them into a video with crossfades. AI motion mode uses a video model to generate a short cinematic clip from each photo and costs credits: about 40 credits per photo, shown before you start.
How many photos can I use?
You can upload up to 20 photos per slideshow. Each photo should be under 15 MB and in JPEG, PNG or WebP format. Classic mode allows 5 slideshows per hour per visitor. AI motion takes up to 12 photos and makes one video clip per photo, then joins them.
What formats does the slideshow export to?
The slideshow exports as an MP4 file in the format you choose: 16:9 for YouTube and TV, 9:16 for TikTok and Instagram Reels, or 1:1 for Instagram feed posts. The video is H.264 encoded for broad compatibility.
Can I add music to the slideshow?
Yes. Every slideshow gets a soft piano track from our own music library, trimmed and faded to the length of the video. Uploading your own music is not supported yet; add it later in any video editor.
What is AI motion mode?
AI motion mode runs each uploaded photo through a video model (Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite by default) to generate a 5-second clip with realistic camera movement. The clips are assembled with transitions into a single video. This produces more cinematic results than Classic mode but costs credits.
How is this different from Google Photos slideshow?
Google Photos creates a basic still-photo slideshow inside the app. This tool generates a downloadable MP4 with custom pan and zoom moves in Classic mode, or full AI-generated motion video per photo in AI motion mode. You can add a title card and choose the export format.
