Quick answer

What is the Podcast Script Generator?

A podcast script generator for solo shows, interviews, voice overs and radio ads: timed segments, host lines, sound notes and a read-aloud button.

How it works

  1. 01

    Say what it is about

The topic of the episode, the film the voice over sits under, or the business behind the ad. Names and facts you give are kept.

  2. 02

Pick the format and the length

Solo, interview, voice over or radio ad, at 30 seconds, 1 minute or 5 minutes, in the tone you want.

  3. 03

    Listen, copy and record

Press Listen to hear the pacing, copy the script, or open it in Ziztu to add a voice.

What you get

Written to be read aloud

Short sentences, easy words, a word budget that matches the length you choose, and a pause marked wherever a voice would breathe.

Four formats in one tool

A solo episode, an interview with suggested guest answers, a voice over for pictures, or a radio ad with sound cues and a clear call to action.

Hear it before you record

A Listen button reads the script in your browser's own voice. Every run shows its price in credits first.

Who it's for

  • Podcasters

Get a cold open, segments with one point each and an outro, or interview questions that follow from each answer.

  • Video makers and narrators

Write a voice over that sits under pictures without describing them, with the sound for each beat.

  • Small businesses and agencies

Draft a 30 second radio ad with a hook, one reason to act and a call to action, with your phone number and web address left to fill in.

What the example shows

The first example above is a real result of this tool: a five minute solo episode on why small towns are good places to start a business. Nothing was edited after it came back.

Read the structure from the top. A cold open of two lines. A short intro with the show name left as a placeholder. Three segments that each make one point with one example. An outro with one thing for the listener to do. Each segment has its time and a note for the sound. Press the other examples to see an interview, a voice over and a radio ad.

How to write a podcast script

  • Open on the hook. The first line earns the next ten seconds. Skip "welcome to the show".
  • One point per segment. Give each one a specific example: a name, a place, a small story.
  • Write for the ear. Contractions, short sentences, words you can say without a breath in the middle.
  • Mark the pauses. A [pause] where a voice would take a breath keeps you from rushing.
  • End on one action. Tell the listener one thing to do.

A script is not a transcript. You will change words when you say them, and that is fine. The script is there so you know where the episode goes and how long it takes.

Voice over script format and radio ad script format

A voice over script holds only what is spoken, with the sound or the picture for each beat next to it. The words should add to the picture and not describe it. Choose Voice over, and the beats come with what is on screen and what is heard.

A radio ad script is built around one idea, one hook in the first three seconds, one reason to act and one clear call to action. At the pace of speech a 30 second ad holds around 70 words, a 60 second ad around 145. Choose Radio ad and the phone number and web address are left as [PHONE] and [WEB ADDRESS] for you to fill in. The tool never states a price, a discount or a number of years you did not give it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this podcast script generator free?

Not free, but cheap. Every run uses a few credits, shown before you start, and you need to be signed in. Longer work in the AI Script Writer is priced in credits too. Start for $7 a month.

How do I write a podcast script?

Start with a hook, then give each segment one point and one example, write for the ear in short sentences, mark the pauses and end on one action for the listener. This tool writes that structure from a topic, and you change the words to sound like you.

What is a good podcast script example?

The first example on this page is one: a five minute solo episode with a cold open, an intro, three segments, an outro, timings and sound notes. The other examples show an interview, a voice over and a radio ad.

Is there a podcast script template?

The result is a template you fill with your own facts: segments, times, lines and sound notes in a fixed order. Leave the show name and guest name as placeholders, copy it into your editor and change what you like.

Can it write an interview script?

Yes. Choose Interview. The host lines are written in full, with questions that follow from each answer, and the guest answers are suggested drafts, marked DRAFT, for the real guest to replace.

What is a voice over script?

It is the spoken part of a video, ad or film, written to sit under pictures. It holds only what is said, and next to each line it notes the sound or the picture, so a narrator and an editor can work from it.

How many words is a 30 second radio ad?

About 70 words at a normal speaking pace, including pauses. A 60 second ad is about 145 words. The tool keeps to those budgets, so the script fits the time.

Can I hear the script?

Yes. The Listen button reads it aloud in your browser's own voice, so you can check the pacing. Nothing is uploaded for that. For a real voice, press Make a voice for it to open the voice tool with the text filled in.

Every run shows its price in credits before you start.
