Sora is no longer on sale and has no free plan. OpenAI closed the Sora web and app experiences on 26 April 2026 and set the Sora API to end on 24 September 2026. This page says what that means and prices the tools people move to.

Is Sora free?
No, because Sora cannot be used at all. There is no free plan, no trial and no paid plan to buy: the Sora web and app experiences were discontinued on 26 April 2026, and the Sora API was set to be discontinued on 24 September 2026. OpenAI's help page lists no prices.
If you saw a Sora pricing page or a "free Sora" offer after those dates, treat it as out of date or as a third party. The only official source is OpenAI's discontinuation page.
What happens to your Sora videos and credits
OpenAI says you can export what you made from sora.chatgpt.com/sunset by choosing Export; you get an email when the file is ready. After the app is discontinued, and after any final export window, it will permanently delete data associated with your use of Sora, so export early. It also says that if a final export window is offered, it will tell you by email first.
For refunds, OpenAI points to its article on refunds for a ChatGPT subscription. Credits you bought for ChatGPT or Sora can still be used for Codex.
