Best AI Video Generators in 2026, Ranked by Use

The best AI video generators in 2026 ranked by what each does best, with free credits, prices and limits read from every official pricing page.

A wall of small video screens, each showing a different generated scene, in a dim editing room

The best AI video generator in 2026 depends on what you are making. For a realistic clip with sound, Veo 3.1 leads. For realistic human motion, Kling 3.0. For an all-in-one studio with editing tools, Runway. For anime and short films where the same characters appear in every shot, Ziztu, which we make, so read that entry with that in mind. Every price below comes from each tool's own pricing page, read on 11 October 2026.

How we ranked them

We did not try to name one winner. Each tool is ranked by the job it does best, and for each one we checked the same things:

  • What it is for. Single clips, a whole film, a talking presenter or a finished social video.
  • Free start. What you can make before paying.
  • Price. The entry plan and what it buys, or the price per second where the company publishes one.
  • Limits. What it does not do, so you do not find out after paying.

One big change this year: OpenAI shut down Sora. The app closed on April 26, 2026 and the API on September 24, 2026, according to OpenAI's help center. If you used it, see our Sora alternatives and the Sora vs Veo comparison.

The list

1. Veo 3.1 (Google): best for realistic clips with sound

Veo 3.1 is Google DeepMind's video model. It makes realistic video with native audio, so dialogue, effects and ambience come out with the picture. You can use it in the Gemini app and Google Flow on Google AI plans, or through the Gemini API.

  • API price per second: Veo 3.1 $0.40 at 720p or 1080p and $0.60 at 4K; Veo 3.1 Fast $0.10 to $0.30; Veo 3.1 Lite $0.05 at 720p and $0.08 at 1080p.
  • Free: not on the Gemini API free tier. Google AI plan prices vary by country.
  • Limits: a model, not a production tool. Planning, consistent characters and the edit are up to you.

2. Kling 3.0: best for realistic motion and action

Kling, from Kuaishou, is known for convincing human motion and fast camera moves, which suits action, sports and dance.

  • API price per second: $0.084 at 720p and $0.112 at 1080p without native audio; $0.126 and $0.168 with native audio; $0.42 at 4K. The Turbo version with audio costs $0.112 at 720p.
  • Free: the app's subscription prices are shown only after you sign in.
  • Limits: anime and stylized looks depend heavily on your first frame.

3. Runway: best all-in-one creative studio

Runway pairs its own Gen-4.5 model with outside models such as Kling 3.0 and Nano Banana Pro, plus editing, upscaling and voice tools. It is the most complete tool here for filmmakers who want everything in one subscription.

  • Plans: Standard $15 a month ($12 billed yearly) for 625 credits, which is 52 seconds of Gen-4.5; Pro $35 ($28 yearly) for 2,250 credits; Max $95 ($76 yearly) for 9,500 credits.
  • Free: 125 one-time credits.
  • Limits: seconds per dollar are modest on the entry plan.

4. Ziztu: best for anime and multi-shot stories

Ziztu is an AI film studio. A Director turns an idea or a script into a shot list, character sheets keep the cast the same from shot to shot, and clips, music, voice-over and captions are cut on one timeline. It runs several video models on one credit balance, including MiniMax H3, Kling, Seedance, Grok Imagine and HeyGen's video model, plus quick tools such as text to video and image to video.

  • Price per 5 second clip: 31 credits at 480p, 50 at 768p on H3 Max Turbo; 208 for Kling 3.0 Pro at 1080p with sound. The AI video price index lists every model.
  • Plans: from $12 a month for 1,000 credits, month to month.
  • Free: 40 credits for new accounts, 480p with a watermark.
  • Limits: no Veo; MiniMax H3 costs less per second on Hailuo's yearly plans, and Seedance costs less on Pika's credit packs. Ziztu earns its place when you are making a whole film, not one clip.

5. Hailuo: best value for MiniMax H3

Hailuo is MiniMax's own app for its Hailuo and H3 models. If you only need H3 clips and you edit elsewhere, its yearly plans are the cheapest way in.

  • Plans: Standard $8.40 a month billed yearly ($100.80 a year) for 1,000 credits a month; Pro $30.40 a month billed yearly for 4,500 credits. On Standard, H3 at 768p works out to $0.059 a second.
  • Free: one-time trial credits, Hailuo models only.
  • Limits: clips only; the lowest prices need a yearly plan.

6. Pika: best for cheap experiments across models

Pika now runs several outside models, such as Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0, and sells credit packs at 60 credits per dollar.

  • Plans: Starter $10 a month ($8 yearly) for 900 credits; Creator $35 ($28 yearly) for 3,150 credits with a commercial license.
  • Costs: a 5 second 720p Seedance 2.5 video is 122 credits; Wan 3.0 is 33.
  • Free: no monthly credits (packs only), no watermark, no commercial license.

7. HeyGen: best for AI presenters

HeyGen makes videos of AI avatars reading your script, with voice cloning and translation. Pick it when the video is a person talking to the camera.

  • Plans: Creator $29 a month ($24 billed yearly) for 600 credits and videos up to 30 minutes in 1080p; Pro from $49 a month with 4K.
  • Free: 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute.

8. InVideo: best for prompt to finished video

InVideo turns a prompt into a complete video with an AI agent, stock footage and a timeline editor, aimed at marketing and social clips.

  • Plans: Basic $9 a seat a month for 190 credits, Pro $30 for 1,000 credits, Ultra $80 for 3,000 credits. On 11 October 2026 the page showed 50% off yearly billing.
  • Free: no free plan listed on the pricing page.

How to choose

  • One realistic clip with sound: Veo 3.1.
  • Action, sports or dance: Kling 3.0, from a strong first frame.
  • A film made of many shots with the same characters: Ziztu. Plan the shots, keep the cast on model with character sheets, cut it on the timeline. Our guide to the best AI anime video generators goes deeper on anime.
  • A presenter reading a script: HeyGen.
  • The cheapest seconds of one model: Hailuo on a yearly plan, or Pika's credit packs.

Whatever you pick, the shot matters more than the tool. Write the camera into the prompt: where it stands, how high, what the frame holds and where the light comes from. The anime scene library breaks real shots down that way, with prompts you can copy.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI video generator in 2026?

There is no single best one; it depends on the video. Veo 3.1 is the strongest pick for realistic clips with sound, Kling 3.0 for realistic motion, Runway for an all-in-one studio, and Ziztu for anime and story films where the same characters appear in every shot.

What is the best free AI video generator?

None of them is free without limits. Runway gives 125 one-time credits, Hailuo gives one-time trial credits, HeyGen gives 3 short videos a month, Pika's free plan runs on credit packs, and Ziztu gives new accounts 40 credits, enough for one 480p clip with a watermark.

Is Sora still available?

No. OpenAI's help center says the Sora app was discontinued on April 26, 2026 and the Sora API on September 24, 2026. Veo 3.1 is the closest replacement for realistic clips with sound.

Which AI video generator is best for anime?

Start every clip from a clean anime first frame and animate it with image to video. Ziztu is built for anime: an anime video generator, character sheets that keep the cast the same, a library of anime shots with prompts, and a timeline for the episode.

How much does AI video cost per second?

On the official price lists we read on 11 October 2026: Veo 3.1 cost $0.05 to $0.60 a second in the Gemini API, Kling 3.0 $0.084 to $0.42 a second on its API, and a 5 second MiniMax H3 Max Turbo clip on Ziztu costs 50 credits at 768p. Subscription plans change the real price per second.

Which AI video generator makes talking presenters?

HeyGen and Synthesia make AI avatar presenters that read your script. The other tools in this list make generated scenes rather than a person talking to the camera.

Can I use AI generated videos commercially?

Usually on paid plans, but the rules differ. Pika includes a commercial license from its Creator plan; Ziztu includes commercial use on every plan. Read each tool's terms before you publish client work.

How long can an AI video be?

Single clips are short, usually 5 to 15 seconds. Longer videos are many clips cut together. Avatar tools are the exception: HeyGen's paid plans allow videos up to 30 minutes.

Plan, generate and edit the whole film in one place: characters, shots, music and the cut. New accounts get 40 free credits to try it (free credits make 480p video with a watermark).
