Make a cinematic one-sheet for any story

The AI Movie Poster Generator creates a Hollywood-style one-sheet from your story description. Whether you are making a real short film, writing a screenplay, running a creative writing project or just want to see what your story would look like on a cinema wall, the generator makes a poster in seconds.

The tool uses genre presets (action, horror, sci-fi, romance, fantasy, anime, documentary and comedy) to apply the right visual conventions: a horror poster gets underlighting and a desaturated palette; a sci-fi poster gets volumetric neon and teal-amber color grading; an anime film poster gets soft painted lighting and expressive composition. You can override these with your own description.

How to write a great movie poster prompt

The most effective prompts include:

  • The genre: action, horror, sci-fi, romance, fantasy, anime, documentary, comedy.
  • The main visual subject: a lone figure, a pair of characters, a sweeping landscape, a monster, an object.
  • The mood and atmosphere: tense, epic, soft and romantic, playful, mysterious, terrifying.
  • The lighting: sunset, night with neon, golden hour, stormy overcast, foggy, studio spotlight.
  • Title and tagline: short and bold. Write them in all caps or quote them exactly.

Example: "a fantasy epic poster, a young sorceress standing in a ruined stone cathedral, shafts of golden light breaking through the ceiling, title: THE LAST WARD, tagline: some power cannot be undone" will generate a specific, genre-accurate result.

From poster to animated teaser

A movie poster is the first visual asset for any film project. Once you have a poster you like, the next step is a teaser. In Ziztu Studio you can make a short animated teaser from the same idea. This is useful for sharing a project on social media before the full film exists.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI movie poster generator free?

You can try it free. Sign up with an email address and you get 40 free trial credits; one poster costs 15 credits. Free trial results carry a small "Made with Ziztu" watermark. Paid plans start at $12 a month for 1,000 credits. That is two posters.

Can I include a title and tagline?

Yes. Include the exact text in your prompt. Ideogram renders typography accurately for short titles and taglines. Keep titles under 5 words for the cleanest results.

Can I use a photo of myself as the main character?

Not yet. The tool generates characters from descriptions. Upload-based character insertion is on the roadmap.

Can I use the poster for a real film?

Yes. Every paid plan includes commercial use of what you make here: short films, festival submissions and social posts.

How is this different from the general poster maker?

The movie poster generator uses genre presets and cinematic compositions tailored specifically for film one-sheets: hero silhouettes, floating cast compositions, dramatic lighting and title hierarchy.

Can I animate the poster into a trailer?

Not on this page. Open Studio and make a short teaser from the same idea.

Does it work for anime films?

Yes. Choose the "Anime film" genre preset. The model uses Ghibli-inspired lighting, painted backgrounds and expressive compositions characteristic of anime theatrical releases.
